BOGOTÁ, 7 October 2026 · Prices and exchange rate verified 7 October 2026 · Applies to the AG2025 income tax return now being filed
The Colombian Accountant today announced flat-rate pricing for its two most requested services: the Colombian personal income tax return (declaración de renta) and company formation. Personal returns start at USD 80, and a Colombian SAS can be formed for USD 500 in professional fees. Every price is fixed, published, and quoted in English before any work begins.
The announcement comes in the final weeks of filing season. Most individuals must file their AG2025 return by 26 October 2026, depending on the last two digits of their NIT. Taxpayers domiciled in Cali, Palmira, Tuluá, Buenaventura, Pereira, Armenia, Manizales, Quibdó and Popayán have until 13 November 2026 under Decreto 1171, issued after the August earthquake.
The new price list
Peso amounts use the official TRM of COP 3,216.01 per USD for 7 October 2026 and are rounded to the nearest thousand. The USD price is the fixed price; the peso equivalent moves with the exchange rate.

What is a “cédula,” and how many do you have?
Colombia’s personal income tax return (Formulario 210 for residents) does not lump all income together. It sorts income into separate baskets called cédulas, each with its own rules for deductions and exemptions:
- Cédula general: employment income, professional fees, rental income, interest and other capital and non-labor income. This is the most involved basket, and where the 40% / 1,340 UVT cap on exemptions and deductions applies.
- Cédula de pensiones: pension income, including foreign pensions received by Colombian tax residents.
- Cédula de dividendos y participaciones: dividends and profit shares from companies.
Our pricing follows that structure. A retiree whose only income is a pension has one non-general cédula (USD 80). A salaried employee or freelancer has the general cédula (USD 140). Someone with a salary plus dividends, or a pension plus rental income, has two (USD 180). Not sure which applies to you? Send us a short description of your income and we will tell you your price before you commit.
How our prices compare with the market
Colombia has no official fee schedule for accountants, so prices vary widely. To give readers an honest benchmark, we compared our rates with the ranges published by Colombian media during the 2026 filing season and with the published prices of English-language providers serving foreigners.
Personal income tax returns
| Type of return | Typical market range | The Colombian Accountant |
|---|---|---|
| Basic: one income source, few bank movements | COP 150,000–350,000 (≈ USD 47–109) |
USD 80 – USD 140 |
| Intermediate: several income sources or properties | COP 400,000–1,200,000 (≈ USD 124–373) |
USD 180 – USD 200 |
| Complex: high net worth, foreign assets, tax planning | COP 1,500,000–3,500,000 (≈ USD 466–1,088) |
Quoted individually |
| English-language service for foreigners | From about COP 600,000 (≈ USD 187) for a single return | From USD 80, in English |
The takeaway: our prices sit inside the range a local, Spanish-only contador charges for the same return, and at the low end of what multi-income returns cost. Compared with English-language services for foreigners, a single-cédula return with us can cost less than half the going rate.
Company formation
| Company type | Typical market cost | The Colombian Accountant |
|---|---|---|
| SAS, local provider (fees plus registration) | COP 1,200,000–1,600,000 (≈ USD 373–498) |
USD 500 (professional fees) |
| SAS, international / English-language provider | USD 500–1,500 for registration assistance; around USD 1,200 for packages; USD 4,000–8,000 for full-service setups for foreign-owned companies | |
| Limitada (fees plus registration) | COP 1,500,000–2,500,000+ (≈ USD 466–777+) |
USD 900 (professional fees) |
| Sociedad Anónima (fees plus registration) | COP 2,000,000–4,000,000+ (≈ USD 622–1,244+) |
USD 900 (professional fees) |
For foreign founders, the relevant comparison is the English-language market, where our SAS fee sits at the entry point. If you form a company with us, you deal with one firm that also handles the tax side afterwards.
What is not included in formation fees
Government and third-party charges are passed through at cost and are not part of our fee. They include notary fees, copies, and registration with the Cámara de Comercio, plus the departmental registration tax, which is a percentage of the company’s subscribed capital. Because these depend on the company type and how much capital you put in, we quote them separately once we know your structure. A Limitada or S.A. requires a public deed (escritura pública) before a notary; an SAS can usually be formed by private document, which keeps its third-party costs lower.
Why flat pricing matters
- You know the price before you start. Hourly billing and “it depends” quotes make it hard to compare providers. A published price list removes that.
- Priced in dollars, explained in pesos. Many of our clients earn or save in USD. A fixed USD price protects you from surprises, and we show the peso equivalent for transparency.
- Built for foreigners and Colombians alike. Service in English, with returns prepared under Colombian rules and filed with the DIAN.
Do you need to file this year?
For the AG2025 return being filed now, you generally must file if, during 2025, any of these applied: gross income of 1,400 UVT (COP 69,718,600) or more; gross assets of 4,500 UVT (COP 224,095,500) or more on 31 December 2025; or credit card spending, total purchases, or bank deposits and investments of 1,400 UVT or more. Anyone registered as responsible for IVA must also file. These figures use the 2025 UVT of COP 49,799. Several outlets have published the higher 2026 figures by mistake; those apply to next year’s return.
Foreigners: tax residency in Colombia depends on days present (more than 183 in any rolling 365-day period), not on your visa type. If you crossed that line, you may need to file on your worldwide income.
