Announcement · October 2026
The Colombian Accountant now sets up fully legal Colombian companies for a flat professional fee of $500 USD. The package covers everything needed to take a new business from idea to a registered company with its own tax ID, so it can open a bank account, sign contracts and invoice clients.
The offer is aimed at foreign investors, expats, digital nomads and local entrepreneurs who want a properly structured Colombian company without months of paperwork or open-ended legal bills.
What the $500 USD package includes
- Structure consultation: a one-on-one review of your plans to confirm the right entity type. For most clients that is a Sociedad por Acciones Simplificada (S.A.S.), the flexible company form created by Law 1258 of 2008. An S.A.S. can have a single shareholder, needs no minimum capital and limits each shareholder’s liability to what they put in.
- Bylaws (estatutos): drafting the company’s founding document, including its corporate purpose, share capital and management.
- Chamber of Commerce registration: filing the company in the commercial register (registro mercantil) and obtaining its certificate of existence and legal representation (certificado de existencia y representación legal).
- RUT and NIT with the DIAN: registering the company with the tax authority so it receives its tax identification number.
- Bank account support: preparing the documents Colombian banks ask for when opening a corporate account.
- Foreign investment guidance: for foreign shareholders, an explanation of how to bring capital in through the formal exchange market so the investment is registered with the Banco de la República.
- A compliance roadmap: a clear calendar of what the company must file after it is created, including electronic invoicing, tax returns and the yearly renewal of its commercial registration.
Who it is for
- Foreigners investing in or moving to Colombia who need a local company for property, tourism, imports or services.
- Remote workers and freelancers who want to invoice through a company instead of as individuals.
- Local entrepreneurs ready to formalize an existing business.
- Foreign companies opening a Colombian subsidiary.
How the process works
- Book a consultation. We learn about your business, partners and goals.
- Send your documents. Usually a passport or cédula for each shareholder and the legal representative, plus an address in Colombia.
- Review and sign. We prepare the bylaws in Spanish with an English explanation, and you sign.
- We register the company. We file with the Chamber of Commerce and the DIAN and keep you updated at each step.
- You are ready to operate. You receive your company certificate, NIT and next-steps calendar.
Government fees
The $500 USD is our professional fee. Official charges, such as the Chamber of Commerce registration fee and the departmental registration tax (impuesto de registro), depend on the company’s capital and the city where it registers. They are paid directly to the government and are quoted to you up front before anything is filed, so there are no surprises. An S.A.S. can usually be created by private document, which keeps those third-party costs low. If your business needs a Limitada or a Sociedad Anónima, which require a public deed before a notary, formation is available for USD 900 in professional fees.
Why a company set up properly matters
A company that is set up correctly from the start avoids the most common and expensive problems we see later: the wrong corporate purpose, unregistered foreign capital, missed DIAN obligations and bank accounts that cannot be opened. Because our team also handles bookkeeping, corporate tax and foreign business advisory, your new company is built with its tax and accounting needs in mind, not just its paperwork.
